Connecting with Cousins

​

Through my research, I have been fortunate to have connected with a few distant cousins previously unknown to me. The following notes are to document the connections made prior to putting together this website.

Roberta Billie Dorothy Jordan

​

Roberta is descended from William and Mary's eighth child and third daughter, Daisy Catherine Smith. Daisy married William Augustus Winter. Daisy and William are Roberta's grandparents, making William Q and Mary her great grandparents. 

 

I was able to connect with Roberta in December 2016 in Florida. We were on vacation and dad (Rick Smith) and I met her at the house of one of her friend's, where she was visiting in Orlando. Roberta is a retired employee of the Miami-Dade police department and is an avid dog lover. She was able to share some interesting information about her grandmother Daisy Smith and her life in Indianapolis.

Roberta lives near Ft. Lauderdale, FL. She is Rick Smith's 2nd cousin once removed and is my 2nd cousin twice removed.

Christine Winter

 

Christine is descended from William and Mary's eighth child and third daughter, Daisy Catherine Smith. Daisy married William Augustus Winter. Daisy and William are Roberta's grandparents, making William Q and Mary her great grandparents.

 

I was able to connect with Christine in May 2015 over email. I noticed a change in one of facts online regarding William Q Smith and her email was given as the person responsible for the change. We would compare notes on our research and findings and share leads for additional research. Christine is responsible for helping me connect with Roberta, her first cousin. She and I compared notes via email until August 2018.

Christine lives in North Carolina. She is my 2nd cousin twice removed.

 

Doug Brydon

 

Doug is descended from William and Mary's oldest child, Allen Francis Smith. Allen married Tossie Bodine. Allen and Tossie are Doug's 2nd Great Grandparents, making William Q and Mary his 3rd Great Grandparents.

 

I was able to connect with Doug in December 2015 through a common interest in a genealogy website. Doug and I are of the same generation. Our closest connection is through our grandfathers, who were brothers. His being the oldest son of Leo Harold Smith Sr., Leo H Smith Jr. and mine being the youngest son Leo Harold Smith Sr., James Allen Smith. Doug's mother is Patricia Ann Smith, daughter of Leo and Wilma Smith.

Doug lives near Oklahoma City, OK and is my 2nd cousin.
